Friday Wrap-Up - January 10th, 2020Welcome to 2020 folks! We hope you were able to take some time to yourselves, to get a bit of rest before the onslaught that has already proved to be 2020.
We stand in solidarity with everyone seeking and working towards peace. 500 Women Scientists is deeply committed to a peaceful process that values every human life and every culture. Demilitarization and decarbonization are intrinsically linked and we will continue to use our platform to amplify voices that advocate for peace, environmental and climate justice, and equitable solutions to our planet’s most pressing problems. OUR PLANS FOR 2020

Importantly, 500 Women Scientists is committed to diversity and inclusion, not just in our scientific fields, but in our society as a whole.
We are what a scientist looks like. |
Upcoming Events
Our leadership team is meeting this weekend to decide what amazing events we should plan for 2020! If you are a member of the pod and have an event in mind or an outreach opportunity for our members please let us know! |
This is a reminder about our 501c3 rules, especially during the upcoming election season.
We cannot do the following:
-Invite a political candidate to make a campaign speech at an event hosted by the organization
-Use the organization's funds to publish materials that support (or oppose) a candidate
-Donate money from the organization to a political candidate
-Criticize or support a candidate on your website or the 500 WS Website.
-Use the organization's website to link to only one candidate's profile.
-Invite one candidate to speak at a well-publicized and well-attended event, and invite the other candidate to speak at a lesser function
-Invite all candidates to speak at an event, but arrange the speaking event or chose the questions in such a way that it is obvious that the organization favors one candidate over the others
-Conduct a "get out the vote" telephone drive in a partisan manner by selecting caller responses for further follow-up based on candidate preference
-Make any statements that support a candidate
Thank you!
